Working out your tile quantity
Measure the length and width of the floor (or the width and height of a wall), multiply to get the area, then divide by the area of a single tile. Grout lines are small enough to ignore for quantity purposes.
Add a waste allowance for cuts around edges, pipes and doorways. 10% is typical for straight layouts; diagonal and herringbone patterns produce more offcuts, so use 15%.
Buy from one batch
Tiles from different production batches can vary slightly in shade. Buy all your tiles — plus a few spares for future repairs — at the same time.
