Sand & Cement Calculator
Work out the cement bags and sand needed for a floor screed, render or mortar bed.
Floor screed is usually 2–3 in (50–75 mm)
Your result
Cement
8 × 25 kg bags · 5 × 94 lb bags
Sand
0.8 tonnes · 0.89 US tons
Wet volume
0.47 m³ · 16.7 ft³
How the mix is calculated
Dry sand and cement shrink by about a third when water is added, so the dry volume is the wet volume × 1.33. That dry volume is then split by your ratio — a 1:4 mix is one part cement to four parts sand.
Densities used: cement 1440 kg/m³, sharp sand 1600 kg/m³. Bag counts are rounded up.
